Postpartum
It has been over 2 weeks since you had your baby and you still feel terrible mentally and emotionally. Perhaps your thoughts feel like a never ending rollercoaster, or, maybe you feel worthless and not good enough to be a mother. Your thoughts are paralyzing and making it difficult to perform everyday tasks and bond with your baby.
On top of these emotions, motherhood can sometimes bring up relationships from our childhood that are unresolved. It can also bring up difficulties in our everyday relationships and the realization that boundaries must be made. It can be a complex and overwhelming life stage to tackle, but with support, you can get through it.
Experiencing postpartum mental health can bring up feelings of shame and discomfort that are difficult to describe. Whats worst is that when mental health concerns are talked about during this time, many just chalk it up to hormones, baby blues, or that is just normal to feel terrible. I am here to tell you that your experience is valid and you deserve to have a space to be heard.
1 in 7 women experience a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder and that number jumps to 1 in 5 after 4 months postpartum. You are not alone in this and do not have to suffer silently. During my work with my postpartum clients, I provide tools and resources in order to take a holistic approach to treatment. Together we can get you on the other side.
